Mocha Goes Modern!  Today our GSP mascot

is at the Hidalgo County Courthouse in Edinburg, Texas.

HISTORY

Mocha has gone modern!

This stop takes her to the new Hidalgo County Courthouse in Edinburg, Texas — a seven-story glass-and-steel courthouse that opened in 2025.

And this is a BIG courthouse for a BIG Texas county.

Hidalgo County is now home to more than 920,000 people, growing by more than 50,000 residents since 2020. The new courthouse was built to serve that growing Rio Grande Valley community.

At approximately 344,000 square feet, it includes 31 modern courtrooms, along with updated technology, security, accessibility and expanded public spaces.

For comparison, the old Hidalgo County Courthouse had just three courtrooms.

From 3 courtrooms to 31. Now that’s a Texas-sized upgrade.

Quite a change from the historic courthouses Mocha has been visiting!
