Mocha has gone historic!

This stop takes her to the Hamilton County Courthouse in Hamilton, Texas, a beautiful limestone courthouse whose history dates back to 1887.

The courthouse has changed considerably over the years. It was substantially remodeled and enlarged in the early 1930s, giving the building much of the appearance we see today.

More recently, Hamilton County undertook a major restoration of the historic courthouse through the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program. The restored courthouse was rededicated in 2012.

Today, its limestone exterior, tall columns and prominent position on the courthouse square make it a classic stop on Mocha’s journey through Texas.

But Mocha knows Hamilton for something else, too.

Hamilton is home to Wenzel Lonestar Meat Company, a local family meat business with roots in the community going back decades.

And Mocha already has a Wenzel favorite: Buddy’s Beef Sticks.

Apparently, visiting all 254 Texas county courthouses requires proper provisions. 🐾
